A Rosmorport’s plan of icebreakers deployment in the 2012-2013 winter shipping season will be worked out and approved until November 10, 2012, the enterprise press release said.
The deadline was announced at a meeting on preparations for winter navigation in the freezing Russian ports, held recently in Moscow and chaired by Alexander Davydenko, head of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport. The meeting was also attended by General Director of Rosmorport Andrei Lavrishchev, the representatives of the Transportation Ministry, Rosmorrechflot, ports authorities, and the industry’s state and private enterprises.
The meeting reviewed the readiness of Rosmorport’s icebreakers for the upcoming navigation and for meteorological support, discussed the stringent regulations in freezing sea ports of the Russian Federation. The seaports harbor masters were instructed to establish the Ice Operations Headquarters and provide media coverage of its activities.
