Handling of exports / imports at Murmansk Commercial Seaport (JSC MMTP, MCS) in January-October 2012 increased by 11% compared to the same period in 2011, to more than 13 million tons, the stevedoring company statistics said. Given the cargo handled by a subsidiary CJSC Agrosfera consolidated cargo throughput of the MMTP nearly touched 14 million tons.
In October, shipments of cargoes through MMTP’s terminals rose by 16.9% to 1,071,900 tons, the record monthly volume ever, the company said. During the month Murmansk Commercial Seaport handled 46 vessels and 18,773 railcars, including 16 dry bulk carriers and 968 cars laden with coal.
OJSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was founded in 1994. MMTP operates 17 berths of total length of about 3 km. The waters depths allow the port to accommodate vessels with draft of 15.5 m and length of more than 265 m. The stevedore specializes in handling ranged cargoes, including non-ferrous metals and alloys in packages, rolled ferrous metals, coal, apatite concentrate, alumina, and scrap and iron ore pellets in bulk, chemical products in bags and big-bags, construction cargo and foodstuff. In H1, 2011 RAS net income of Murmansk Commercial Seaport shrank by 30.2% to RUB 138,534,000, revenues fell 3.7%, to RUB 1,403,254. Cargo throughput of MMTP in 2011 totaled 14,420,033 tons.
