Cargo traffic at the Port of Helsinki in January-October fell 3 percent year-on-year to 8.3 million tons, the Port Authority said.
The ten-month volume of imports also decreased by 3% from last year’s numbers, to 4.3 and 4 million tons, respectively.
In the reporting period, passenger traffic at the port hit record high of 9.1 million tourists, a 4-percent gain from the ten-month period of 2011.
Port of Helsinki is a premier port of Finland and the largest passenger port, which handles 77 percent of all passenger traffic of the country. Helsinki ranks the third Baltic Sea passenger port. In 2011, the port saw 10 million passengers.
