Northern Shipping adds M/V Engineer Veshnyakov to its fleet

Northern Shipping Company has held a Russian flag hoisting ceremony on board the M/V Engineer Veshnyakov, another multi-purpose vessel commissioned into service by NSCO, the Russian shipping company press release said.

The M/V Engineer Veshnyakov is designed for the transportation of general, bulk, timber and oversized cargoes, as well as 20’, 40’ containers. The ship has reinforced ice class, deadweight - 7049 tons, length - 130 m, beam - 19.3 m.

The ship was put under supervision of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS).

The Northern Shipping Company’s Board decided to name the vessel after Anatoly Veshnyakov, chief engineer of the Company’s vessels, an honorary citizen of Arkhangelsk, the famous inventor and innovator.

Northern Shipping Company is going to use the new vessel to carry general cargo, bulk cargo from Arkhangelsk on long-term contracts, and from European ports to the ports of the Mediterranean. Given the enhanced ice-class of the M/V Engineer Veshnyakov, the vessel will be also utilized to deliver goods to the Arctic Basin and for shipping along the Northern Sea Route.

Northern Shipping Company was founded on May 16, 1870. The company owns and operates a fleet of universal dry-cargo ships of DWT 2500-14000 tons, transporting logs, lumber, pulp and paper products, general, bulk and dangerous cargoes. The ice-class vessels can operate in harsh environmental conditions. The company’s vessels provide regular delivery of goods to Western Europe through the ports of Arkhangelsk and St. Petersburg. Most vessels are able to carry 20’ and 40’ containers and reefer containers.
