Freight flows passing through the Port Yuzhny in January-October 2012 rose 11.8% year-on-year to 18,951,400 tons, the company press release said.
In the reporting period, the port handled 163,336 railcars and 709 ships. In October – 266 cars and 64 vessels.
Cargo traffic in October totaled 2,002,900 tons, a 14.6-percent gain from last year’s numbers.
State-owned Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long, 14m-deep approach canal. In 2011, the company handled 22,639,100 tons.
