Offshore support services provider Swiber scored contracts worth around $143m for offshore construction work and the charter of a construction vessel, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Swiber secured $100m contract in Southeast Asia for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) and work is expected to complete by the third quarter of 2013. The company also won a $43m contract for the charter of a construction vessel to be deployed in Latin America this year.
The Singapore-listed company, meanwhile, posted higher revenue but lower profit in the third quarter of 2012.
Net profit during the quarter dropped 21.1% year-on-year to $12.5m while revenue rose 92.6% to $265.3m.
Francis Wong, group ceo and president of Swiber, continued to see plenty of opportunities in the oil and gas industry due to increasing appetite for energy in developing economies.
“We have seen this in the form of new order wins by Singapore rig-builders. This would in turn create demand for offshore services down the road when exploration and production work begins,” Wong said.
