The Federal Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmorrechflot) has mapped out and agreed a plan of icebreakers operations during the 2012-2013 winter navigational season, Rosmorport, which is in charge of diesel-electric icebreakers and icebreaking tugs, told PortNews.
In line with the plan, the icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsin from January to the first decade of May 2013 will be assisting merchant shipping at the Port of Murmansk, at the Port of Arkhangelsk (on the northern ice edge), and if necessary, will be redeployed to the Gulf of Finland.
The icebreaker Dixon will be operating during the winter season on the northern ice edge of the port of Arkhangelsk, jointly with the Kapitan Kosolapov. Two Rosmorport’s icebreakers Kapitan Evdokimov and Kapitan Chadaev will be deployed at entrance buoy of Arkhangelsk port.
The icebreaker Thor will be working in the Gulf of Finland and upon arrival of the Kapitan Dranitsin will be relocated to the White Sea.
The icebreaker Kapitan Sorokin will be deployed in the approach channel, from the western ice edge to the St. Petersburg entrance buoy. The icebreaker Yermak will be escorting ships in the approach channel, on the western ice edge, water area of Port of Primorsk.
The icebreaker Kapitan Nikolaev will be assisting vessels in the approach channel, on the western ice edge, the Ust-Luga harbor.
The icebreaker Mudyug will ensure navigation in the approach channel, from the western ice edge to the St. Petersburg entrance buoy.
The following icebreakers: the Karu, the Dezhnev, the Ivan Krusenstern, the Kapitan Zarubin, the Yuri Lisyansky will be cutting a channel in the ice from the entrance buoy in the harbor of St. Petersburg.
The icebreaker Moscow will be deployed at the approach channel, on the western ice edge, water area of the port of Primorsk, the icebreaker St. Petersburg – in Vyborg, Vysotsk, the approach channel, from the western ice edge to the Big Tranzundsk offshore anchorage. The area of responsibility of the icebreaker Kapitan Izmailov - Big Tranzundsky anchorage at the harbors of Vyborg, Vysotsk, and in December 2012, January-April 2013 the vessel will be operating from the Big Tranzundsky anchorage to the first lock of Saimaa Canal.
The icebreakers Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Demidov, Kapitan Chudinov will be deployed in the aria from the ice edge, the harbors of Taganrog, Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Yeisk. The icebreaking tug Kama – from the entrance buoy of the port of Taganrog. The icebreaking tug Kapitan Harchikov – from the entrance buoy of Azov-Don Canal, the harbors of Azov, Rostov-on-Don. The icebreaking tug Fanagoria – the entrance buoy of the Azov-Don Canal to the harbors of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog. The icebreaker Kapitan Krutov – from the ice edge of water areas of the ports Yeisk, Taganrog, to the entrance buoy of Azov-Don Canal. The tugboats Kolguev and Tekhflotovets – from the entrance buoy to the port of Yeisk.
The icebreakers Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Bukayev and Kapitan Metsayk will be deployed in the Caspian basin.
All of the above mentioned vessels are in operation of Rosmorport.
Rosmorport has entered into agreement with icebreakers, tugs owners for icebreaking assistance in the Far Eastern basin: FESCO’s icebreakers Admiral Makarov, Krasin, Kapitan Khlebnikov will be escorting cargo ships at the Port Vanino, the icebreaker Magadan – at the port of Magadan, and the icebreaking tugs owned by Daltransugol – at Vanino port, the bay of Muchka and the tugs of CPV – at Vostochny port, the bay of Muchka.
