Luanda Port ready to receive big capacity ships

The current organisation level of the Luanda Port, which results from investments being made by the Angolan executive, enabled last Wednesday, for the first time, a big capacity ship to moor in it.
The information was given by the Luanda Port commercial director, Alberto Bengue, who also informed that the ship has the capacity to transport 4,500 containers.
The official spoke to the press after the arrival of the Maersk Line Cape Coast ship, which came from Algeciras Port, in Spain, having added that this will enable the Luanda Port to receive more ships with big capacity, thus causing the reduction of operational costs, facilitating the activity of importers.
According to Alberto Bengue, the Maersk Line Cape Coast ship will be mooring once a week in Luanda Port.
On his turn, the commercial director of the Angolan branch of Maersk company, Bruno Silva, said that the arrival of the mentioned ship is a significant step for the economy of the country.
“Ports in west Africa are among the less efficient and jammed ones, but the Wafmax ships will help to improve business conditions in this area and support the growth of the region’s economy”, he explained.
Besides Angola, the Maersk Line Cape Coast ship will also serve the West African region.
