OJSC North-Western Shipping Company, in conjunction with Infotech- Baltika on November 16 has successfully completed a unique operation for delivery of a shipment of hydrocracking reactors intended for Tuapse-based refinery of Rosneft, the shipping company’s press release said.
The equipment, manufactured at Izhorsky enterprise, was delivered by four tugboats and two barges of NW Shipping Company, which performed four sailings. Charter management was exercised through the carrier’s subsidiary - Volga-Baltic Logistic.
Overall, the company delivered to Tuapse two units weighing 1,400 tons, a length of more than 40 m, a diameter of 7 m each, and four units each weighing 600 tons and a length of 25 m each. The total weight of the transported equipment was over 5,000 tons.
The heavy-lift cargo delivery from St. Petersburg to Tuapse from August 10 to November 16 was executed in two phases.
This was the first shipment of such heavy-lift and oversized cargo on the country's inland waterways. The company had to refit its barges to carry out the operation.
