The Estonian government decided on Thursday to allocate EUR 6.2 million from its reserve to the Waterways Board to provide icebreaking services this season, LETA/Postimees Online reports.
This amount should cover the fuel expenses of icebreakers Tarmo and EVA 316 that the board owns, as well as other management costs connected to breaking ice, amounting to nearly EUR 2.3m, as well as the chartering fee of icebreaker Botnica that will be chartered from AS Tallinna Sadam for 109 navigation days and its fuel costs for 30 icebreaking days, for which 4.087 million and EUR 575,000 respectively will be used.
The ports that the state services with its icebreakers include the Port of Sillamäe, Port of Kunda, Port of Muuga, Paldiski North Port and Paldiski South Port, Port of Pärnu, ports of the Tallinn and Kopli Bay.
