The Authority of the seaports of Ukrainian will be established in the form of a public company until June 2013. The Ports Authority is created in line with the country’s law "On Sea Ports," the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Dmitry Demidovich said Friday.
"The sea ports Authority is going to be a state-run enterprise, which will take over assets of strategic importance, that is, the waters, waterworks, public infrastructure, quay walls and other strategic assets. This property is fully in the public domain," the Ministry press office quoted Demidovich as saying.
Currently the Ministry of Infrastructure has established a working group, which will focus on the creation of the Ports Authority.
In June 2012 Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed a law "On Sea Ports" adopted by the Ukraine’s Parliament on May 17 this year. The law authorizes lease or concession of port berths for up to 49 years.
