South Korea's five electric power firms have launched a joint tender on Monday for nine new capesizes, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The bidders are understood to be limited to Korean shipping companies, local reports said. The shipowners will have to order the newbuildings at Korea-based shipyards to stimulate jobs for the local economy.
The bidders have until 21 December to make an offer. The newbuilding price of each 150,000 dwt dry bulk carrier is estimated at around $46m.
