Singapore is commencing a feasibility study on the possibility of building a second liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal to meet future demands, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) called a tender on Monday to seek “consultancy services for (a) feasibility study of LNG terminal and assessment of gas network infrastructure plans”.
Singapore's first S$1.7bn ($1.4bn) LNG terminal on Jurong Island is scheduled to come on-stream in April/May 2013 with two tanks having an initial capacity of 3.5m tonnes per annum, increasing to 6m tonnes per annum by the fourth quarter of 2013 once a third tank is ready.
