Ilyichevsk port cargo volumes rise 8.4 percent
Cargo throughput at the Ukrainian Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk in January-November 2012 rose 8.4% compared to the same period of 2011 to 13,173,000 tons, the state-owned company press release said.
In the reporting period, shipments of vehicles increased by 11% year-on-year, of edible oil – by 45%. Grain exports soared by 218%, of coal – by 123%, of meal – by 103%.
Over the past eleven months the port handled 1,549 vessels and 140,400 railcars.
In November, Ilyichevsk port loaded / offloaded 1,258,000 tons of different cargoes (+106,000 mt). The monthly cargo volume increase was driven by a 97-percent growth in handling sulfur, a 375-percent surge in gas volume and a 33-percent gain in handling edible oil.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. Since 2007 the port is able to handle simultaneously three ocean-going 5,000teu container ships with length of 300m.
