Port Vysotsky coal throughput in November hits record high
Shipments of export coal through LLC Port Vysotsky terminals in November have totaled 443,409,400 tons, which is a record volume ever handled at the Vostotsky terminal, the stevedoring company said.
Overall, in January-November, the stevedore handled 2,975,900 tons, a 1.3-percent gain year-on-year.
Since August, the company has been handling Panamax ships. For three and a half months Port Vysotsky loaded seven bulk carriers of this class. In December, the company plans to receive and load three more Panamax vessels.
LLC Port Vysotsky specializes in handling of Russian coal exported to Western Europe. In 2011, coal throughput at Port Vysotsky increased by 39% year-over-year to 3,201,750.9 tons. In December 2011, Port Vysotsky completed dredging project deepening the harbor and approach channel to 12.7 meters. The channel has now 200 m in width. Maximum draft of vessels was increased from 9,3 m to 11,9 m. This enables access of 45,000DWT bulkers to the coal terminal.
