Ministry to focus on northern territories development in 2013
The Ministry of Regional Development is set to begin elaboration of the Russia’s northern territories integrated development program in 2013, to commence large-scale funding of the project as of 2016, the Ministry’s deputy head Sergei Darkin said.
The official, who attended the international conference "The Arctic. Present and Future" in St. Petersburg, said the program will be financed through the regional budgets and at the expense of the federal responsible ministries.
"The budgets of all levels of the federal government and regional authorities have enough funds to allocate money for the program elaboration," said Darkin.
He also said that the program is aimed at the creation of favorable conditions for living in the Arctic regions.
