Vanino port’s checkpoint sets round-the-clock service
Marine checkpoint in the port of Vanino will shift to twenty-four-hour service as from January 10, 2013, the TransNews Agency reported. This was initiated by Daltransugol company that is set to boost coal shipments in the near future.
JSC Daltransugol had submitted a request to the Far Eastern regional authority of Rosgranitsa to extend the Vanino checkpoint shift back in September 2012. In 2011, the company handled 8.5 million tons of coal. The figure is projected to be at 9.5 million tons by the year-end, and by 2015, the estimated coal exports may reach 40 million tons.
Now the checkpoint is open until 20:00 every day, and its design capacity in this mode of operation does not exceed 12 million tons.
Currently, there are four checkpoints in charge of FE Rosgranitsa working round-the-clock.
