FNTPP will not be installed in Pevek - source
Floating Nuclear Thermal Power Plant (FNTPP) will not be based in Pevek, a source familiar with the matter told PortNews.
The decision to change the facility location in the Chukotka port was due to the fact that the city is supplied with sufficient power from the nuclear power plant in Bilibino.
Currently, JSC Rosenergoatom Concern is building the world's first floating nuclear power plant of capacity of 70 MW. The first facility "Academician Lomonosov" is being constructed at Baltic Shipyard. Rosenergoatom and United Shipbuilding Corp. have been in talks on outfitting of the FNTPP.
Russian Government’s development strategy for 2030 provides for the construction of a series of floating nuclear power plants for the Arctic and the Far East regions. The power generating facilities will be placed in Kamchatka, Chukotka Autonomous Area, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and in other regions of Russia.
