Yuzhny port throughput climbs 0.7 percent
Cargo traffic at Ukraine’s Port of Yuzhny in January-November 2012 totaled 20,674,300 tons, a 0.7-percent gain from the same period last year, the port’s statistics said.
In the reporting period, the port handled 722 ship, in November – 63, 181,318 railcars (November – 17,961 cars). In November, cargo throughput reached 1,722,900 tons.
State-run Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The Port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long 14-m-deep canal so pilotage service is required for inbound and outbound vessels. In 2011, Port of Yuzhny handled 22,639,100 tons of different cargoes.
