Nam Cheong launches diesel-electric MPSV
Malaysia-based shipbuilder Nam Cheong has launched the first diesel-electric multi-purpose platform support vessel (MPSV) ever built in Malaysia on Saturday, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The NC800 MPVS is built for Malaysia's Bumi Armada, an international offshore oil field services company.
Tiong Su Kouk, ceo of Nam Cheong, said the shipbuilding industry in Malaysia is benefiting from the global growth as well as major investments in “oil and gas” exploration and production activities in the region.
Nam Cheong has been winning a slew of contracts and riding on the wave of local and global demands, bringing in a record sale of 18 vessels sold this year with an orderbook totalling MYR1.3bn to date.
