Slight drop in coal exports from Australia Newcastle port
According to Newcastle Port Corporation, in the week ended December 10th, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle in Queensland, the coal producing state of Australia, totaled 2.7 million tonne, SteelOrbis reports.
The figure constitutes a decrease of 2.7% compared to the 2.8 million tonne of coal shipments recorded in the previous week.
The port authority forecasts that Newcastle port will ship a total of 12.35 million tonne for the whole of December. In November this year, Newcastle port had exported almost 10 million tonne of thermal and coking coal.
Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
