Vostochny Port throughput rises 10.8 percent
Cargo shipments from Vostochny Port (excluding Kozmino port's numbers) in January-November 2012 increased by 12.6% year-on-year, to 24.27 million tons, the Port Authority told PortNews.
Exports of coal and coke (including batch and anthracite) through the port rose 13% to 20.06 million tons, oil product shipments increased by 10.7% to 495,600 tons.
Container traffic grew by 16.7% to 564,940 TEUs.
Port Vostochny (East Port) is the year-round navigable and the deepest port of the Russian Far East region. Vostochny Port is located on the coast Japan Sea, 20 km from the terminus of Trans-Siberian Railroad - the city of Nakhodka. Vostochny port is able to accommodate 280-meter long, 40-meter wide vessels with draft up to 15.5 m. The port’s stevedore companies operate 16 cargo berths, a few auxiliary berths at the terminals for handling coal, containers, fertilizer, methanol, timber, bulk and general cargo. In 2011, cargo throughput at Port Vostochny (excluding Kozmino’s figures) rose to 23.15 million tons from 20.34 million tons a year earlier.
