Adani Hazira Container Terminal ready for operations
Adani Hazira Container Terminal (AHCT) which received its customs notification on the 31st October is now ready for operations, Daily Shipping Times reports.
The Container Terminal is awaiting EDI connectivity which will be established very soon.
AHCT is located about 120 nautical miles north of Nhava Sheva and Mumbai. It will have 2 container berths with a total length of 650 meters and a capacity of 1 million TEU in Phase 1 development.
Equipments include 4 Post Panamax quay cranes and 12 Electric RTG cranes for yard operations.
Additional 2 quay cranes and 6 RTG cranes have been already ordered.
AHCT is strategically located to cater to the markets of South Gujarat, North Maharashtra and Central India.
AHCT received its inaugural and symbolic call dedicating to the nation on 15th August 2012 which happened to be Indian Independence Day by the SMILE service M.V. Rajiv Gandhi of Shipping Corporation of India.
The Shipping Corporation of India will commence regular services from Jan 2013.
