FUGRO Survey Ltd. orders new HUGIN AUV system
Kongsberg Maritime is proud to announce that FUGRO Survey Ltd. has ordered the latest generation of HUGIN AUVs to augment their existing fleet of survey vehicles, Kongsberg press release said.
The new HUGIN 1000 AUV has depth rating of 3000 metres and includes Lithium Polymer batteries. The batteries are packaged into modules, which are stacked in the centre section of the AUV. They can be swapped between dives, which reduces the turn-around time to less than 2 hours. This latest configuration has 48 Kilowatt Hours of energy providing more than 70 hours of effective survey time with the payload sensors collecting data simultaneously.
HUGIN 1000 represents the state of the art within AUV technology. The modular design enables it to be packaged with systems to meet exact customer requirements. For this order, FUGRO specified the latest versions of the Kongsberg EM 2040 multibeam echo sounder, EdgeTech sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiler, forward looking sonar, turbidity sensor, acoustic Doppler current profiler, conductivity temperature and depth sensor and a camera system with energy efficient LED lighting.
"This order signifies the strength and depth of the relationship Kongsberg Maritime has with FUGRO Survey," said Richard Mills, Area Sales Manager for AUVs with Kongsberg Maritime. "The latest HUGIN configuration with new batteries enhances FUGRO's capabilities by packing a varied payload sensor suite and a lot of energy into a very reliable and stable platform."
Kongsberg Maritime is the market leader within the AUV industry and produces the HUGIN and REMUS vehicles in Horten, Norway and Pocasset, USA. More than 300 vehicles have been delivered worldwide since 1995 encompassing all sizes and capabilities.
