NCSP Group cargo volumes up 2.7% to 146.8m tons
Cargo handling across stevedoring assets of NCSP Group (PJSC NCSP) in January-November 2012 totaled 146.8 million tons, a 2.7-percent gain from last year’s figures, the Group’s press release said.
The eleven-month growth was driven largely by shipments of oil products, ferrous metals and grain. The commodities exports rose 15.6%, 23.8% and 58.6%, respectively.
Liquid bulk exports for the period rose 2 mln tons, or 1.7% year-on-year to 121.1 million tons. Crude oil throughput exceeded 102.9 million tons, slightly down year on last year, - 0.7%. Volumes of petroleum products increased by 15.6% compared to the same period in 2011, reaching 17.3 million tons.
In January-November, NCSP Group handled 11.1 million tons of bulk cargo.
Coal shipments through the Group’s terminals nearly doubled as compared to the ten-month period (Jan-Oct), to 168,800 tons. The Company’s Novorossiysk port terminals commenced handling the commodity in August of this year.
The eleven-month volume of general cargo rose 19.1% to over 9.9 million tons. The growth was fueled primarily by increased volumes of ferrous metals – a 23.8% gain year-over-year, to 7.9 million tons. Shipments of timber cargo exceeded 677,000 tons up 25.9% from the same period last year.
Container traffic in January-November was up 5.2% to 567,500 TEUs.
Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is the largest Russian company and ranks third operator in Europe in terms of cargo throughput. Novoport Holding Ltd, which is beneficially owned by Transneft and Ziyavudin Magomedov (Summa Group), holds a 50.1% stake in PJSC NCSP. Consolidated revenue according to IFRS for 2011 totaled $1.5bn and EBITDA - $505 million. NCSP shares are traded on Russia's MICEX exchange (NMTP) and on the London Stock Exchange in the form of GDRs (NCSP). In 2011, cargo volumes handled by NCSP Group totaled 157 million tons.
