Federal Marine and River Transport Agency on December 19, 2012 and Nordic Yards Wismar GmbH signed the contract for the construction of two ice-class 7MW multipurpose Search and Rescue (SAR) vessels of unlimited navigation area of Project MPSV06, Rosmorrechflot press release said.
Customer-developer is Directorate of the State Customer of Maritime Transport Development Program. The order will be executed at Wismar, Germany based yards.
The SAR vessel construction will be implemented in the framework of subprogram “Maritime transport" of the FTP "Development of Transport System of Russia (2010-2015)."
The multipurpose boats are designed to solve complex problems related to operations, including search and rescue of people at sea, salvage of stricken ships (including those trapped in ice), to support underwater diving to a depth of 300 meters, for escort of ship and icebreaking operations, for surveys of the seabed and underwater objects at depths of 1,000 m, for oil spills response, for extinguishing fires on the water surface and on offshore and onshore facilities.
SAR vessels specifications: length - 86.00 m; breadth - 19.10 m; depth - 8.50 m; draft - 6 m; twin propulsion engines rated power - 2 x 3500 kW, max. speed - 15.0 kn, endurance - 30 days; cruising range - 5000 nm.
