Autos-laden MV Samarga immobilized in Japan Sea
The Cambodia-flagged MV Samarga (homeport Phnom Penh, shipowner INDERTON LIMITED SA) with a load of vehicles on board has gone adrift in the Sea of Japan, 200 nm off the port of Vladivostok, in the area of responsibility of the DPRK, the State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre of the RF Ministry of Transportation said.
The MV Samarga has a crew of 17 people, all Russia nationals. The car carrier has issued a distress call. The motor vessel was bound for Vladivostok, ship agency Vladmortrans has permanent communications with the ship.
The rescue centre of Vladivostok has commenced coordination of efforts to rescue the stricken ship. Three ships (Lazurit, Strela and Limansky) have been sent out to the scene, as well as the M/V Omsky-117 and Diyana, now located 30-70nm off the site and ready to assist.
