The south east Fangcheng port on the Beibu Gulf moved 102,000 TEU in 2008, up 19.7 per cent year on year, breaking the 100,000 TEU mark, report Logistics Week.
The port imported 47,000 TEU (up 19.7 per cent) or 1.4 million tons (up 39.7 per cent) and exported 55,000 TEU (up 24.4 per cent) or 883,000 tons (28 per cent) in 2008. Imports consisted of mechanical equipment and ores while the exports were mostly chemical products.
It is reported that the port attributed its volume growth to far-ranging service expansion, upgraded sailing frequency and enhanced service efficiency.
