Dudinka seaport undergoes power facilities modernization
Polar Transportation Division of MMC Norilsk Nickel is replacing obsolete transformer substations in Dudinka seaport, press center of Norilsk Nickel says. The old facilities are replaced by modern ones equipped with an intelligence system of power consumption recording. Each substation accurately transmits consumption data at different tariff rates (day/night). Seven devices of this kind are supposed to be installed.
In addition, the replacement of switchgear and control gear is under way. Five units will be installed instead of obsolete ones. Each of them represents a high-voltage equipment control cabinet for reception and distribution of electric power with the voltage of 6 kV. Switchgear and control gear is installed on ordinary basement and does not require any additional construction work.
Dudinka seaport also undergoes the replacement of two-operator crane columns and single-operator ship columns. Ship columns are designed to connect vessels’ electric equipment and other auxiliary electric equipment to onshore distribution network. Crane columns ensure non-automatic switching of high-power electric circuits and protection of cranes’ electric equipment against overloads and short-circuit currents. In total, 32 columns will be upgraded.
Modernization is carried out as part of the program Replacement of Obsolete Equipment.
