Throughput of port Ventspils (Latvia) down 5.8% to 16.3 mln t in HI’13
In January-June 2013, Free Port of Ventspils handled 16.3 mln t of cargo (-5.8%, year-on-year), the port authority says. In May, the port handled 2.1 mln t of cargo.
Three of ten terminals of the port demonstrated the throughput growth in the half-year period: Ventbunkers – by 49%, Ventspils Commercial Port – by 1%, Ventamonjaks serviss – by 7%. Throughput of Ventspils Nafta termināls lost 12%, Kālija parks – 40% Baltic Coal Terminal – 11%, Ventspils Grain Terminal – 34%, Ventall Termināls – 13%, Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals – 3%, Ventplac – 2%.
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2012 the port’s throughput increased by 7% to 30.4 mln tonnes.
