New container train Illichivets presented at Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk
A new container train Illichivets – joint project of the transport-forwarding company Levada-Cargo, Container Terminal Ilyichevsk and the “Liski” Ukrainian State Transport Service Center - with the route of Ilyichevsk-Kyiv-Ilyichevsk was presented at Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk on June 10, 2013. According to the press center of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk, the launch of the first container train is scheduled for July 24, 2013.
The new container train comprises thirty three 80-feet platforms.
The rolling stock, automobile fleet and terminal facilities have been provided for the project by the “Liski” Ukrainian State Transport Service Center. The transport-forwarding company Levada-Cargo is the train operator.
The train’s major advantage is a 15-30-pct decrease of cargo transportation costs as compared with motor transportation. Special storage conditions are provided for empty containers at Kyiv-Liski terminal with special proposal for shipping lines.
The train will depart and arrive according to the schedule despite the loading. The train schedule reflects that of the shipping lines. The travel time of Illichivets is 13 hours.
Container Terminal Ilyichevsk is a part of National Container Company (NCC, Russia). It is an operator of a container terminal at commercial seaport of Illichivsk.
SE Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a multipurpose international port, one of the largest ports in the Black Sea. The company operates specialized terminals and complexes capable of handling a wide range of cargoes – liquid bulk cargo, dry bulk cargo, general cargo. The port’s 29 berths can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes in deadweight. Designed annual capacity of SCPI exceeds 30 mln tonnes.
The port’s container capacity is 1.15 mln TEUs. From 2007 the port can simultaneously handle 3 ocean-going 300-m long container carriers of over 5,000 TEUs in capacity.
