Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport up 8.4% to 8.4 mln t in HI’13

In January-June 2013, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 8,412,800 tonnes of cargo (+8.4%, year-on-year), the company says. In June, the company handled 1,504,400 tonnes of cargo.

In the accounting period, coal transshipment totaled 6,371,500 tonnes  (+11.5%), apatite concentrate – 734,600 tonnes (+75.2%), iron ore concentrate – 626,600 tonnes, non-ferrous metals – 189,300 tonnes, magnanize ore – 133,400 tonnes. Transshipment of import cargo fell by 10,000 tonnes, coastal trade cargo – by 35,000 tonnes.

In the 6-month period the company handled 251 vessels and 122,246 wagons including 91,884 wagons with coal.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994 on base of the public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draught and over 265 meters in length. In 2012, the company handled 15.69 mln t of cargo.
