Russian research vessel Mikhail Somov will depart from Arkhangelsk port on the night of 26/27 July to set sail to the Arctic on its 80-day mission, the Northern department of Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) said. The ship is expected to return to the port on October 18, 2013.
The RV Mikhail Somov will sail along the Northern Sea Route and deliver goods and specialists to hard-to-reach stations based on the coasts and islands of the five Arctic seas: White, Barents, Kara, Laptev and East Siberian Sea.
During the voyage specialists of several scientific organizations will be conducting different surveys in the Arctic region.
