Russian ports of Gulf of Finland to be presented by CNN with IAA PortNews assistance (photo)
The production team of CNN International was working in seaports of Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region for 10 days in late September, 2013.

CNN journalists had arrived with the purpose to prepare a special episode of the Gateway program. This program is focused on the operation of the world’s largest transport hubs. Wherever 'The Gateway' comes, its journalists make films about the logistics facilitating the transport hub operation, people working there and business responsible for the exports and imports. The Gateway episodes are given CNN’s prime time in Connect The World program. The fact of selecting Big Port St. Petersburg as new episode of the program is indicative of this hub’s importance for the global economy.
Becky Anderson, one of CNN’s most famous reporters. Her files comprise dozens of interviews with presidents, prime ministers, key players of world politics and economics.
The CNN team visited the First Container Terminal, observed the towing of vessels being onboard the tugboats of PORT FLEET CJSC, traveled along the Neva river by the Volga-Flot-7 tanker during the bridge raising period, held shooting at the stations controlling the raising of the Dvortsovy and Tuchkov bridges.
Foreign journalists also visited port Ust-Luga. The most spectacular and unusual episode was that of unloading the Falconia which delivered the livestock from the USA. The brood cows are to upgrade the cattle breed in the Tumen region.
CNN journalists interviewed Deputy Transport Minister of the Russian Federation Victor Olersky, Vice-Governor of the Leningrad region Dmitry Yalov, Harbour Master of port of St. Petersburg Peotr Parinov, NCC Vice-President Yegor Govorukhin, Director of transport-logistic complex Port Ust-Luga OJSC Ronny Winter, Director General of PUL-Trans Igor Yevstafiev, Portoflot captain Victor Nikolsky who told about the half-year long period he spent in captivity of Somalian pirates, Mostotrest engineer Sergey Matveyev, captains and crewmembers of marine and river vessels, port personnel.
The program produced in Saint-Petersburg will be broadcasted by CNN International in mid November. It will also be available at the website >>>>.
