Summa Group and Makhachkala port sign Agreement of Intent

Port Petrovsk LLC (Summa Group) and FSUE Makhachkala Commercial Seaport have signed the Agreement of Intent. According to Summa press center, the document implies the increase of cargo transshipment volumes as well as improvement of quality and competitiveness of services provided by MCS.

Port Petrovsk LLC owns a number of land plots in close vicinity to the port. There is a plan to create new grounds there for cargo storage and handling. The company is also interested in the development of port infrastructure. 

Besides, Port Petrovsk is also willing to assist in introduction of state-of-the-art technologies for cargo transshipment.

Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is located at the western coast of the Caspian Sea, in Dagestan Republic. This port with round the year navigation handles crude, oil products, breakstone, gravel, grain, general and timber cargo. It is crossed by the routes from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Baltics and it also handles transit cargoes going to/from Iran, Turkey and Central Asia. The port is serviced by the railway station Makhachkala (Makhachkala branch of North-Caucasus Railway). In 2012, the port handled 6 mln t of cargo including 5.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo.
