More shipping companies use European hinterland network InlandLinks

The European hinterland network InlandLinks is rounding off an already successful 2013 with a powerful final sprint, Port of Rotterdam Authority says in its press release. Shipping companies OOCL, Cosco, K-Line and Yang Ming recently became users of the network’s ‘empty depot tool’. This brings the number of participating shipping companies to 13. Together they are good for around 60% of the total container handling in the port of Rotterdam. Another three shipping companies have indicated their interest.

The terminals’ great interest in InlandLinks has also remained unchanged. In the past two months, 15 terminals/depots from Rotterdam, Belgium, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Austria have registered. The terminals are ‘audited’ and then entered successively into the system. Due to the flood of applicants - Contargo already registered a series of terminals in the summer - it will take some time for this process to be completed. It is expected that more than 60 terminals will be operationally affiliated by the end of the year. Thanks to the new terminals and especially the introduction of the ‘empty depot tool’, the average number of website visitors has grown from 3,500 to 5,500 per month.
