Gazprom and Kuwait addressing cooperation options, including LNG supplies
The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee and Abdulaziz Al-Adwani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the Russian Federation, the company said in its press release.
The parties looked into the prospects for the bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector. In particular, they addressed the cooperation broadening as part of Gazprom's LNG supplies to Kuwait as well as the joint projects implementation.
Kuwait's proven natural gas reserves amount to 1.8 trillion cubic meters, oil reserves – to 14 billion tons (6 per cent of global reserves).
In 2012 natural gas production in Kuwait totaled 15.5 billion cubic meters, whereas the consumption reached 18.2 billion cubic meters. The shortage is met mostly due to the LNG imports. Since 2011 Gazprom Group has supplied two LNG cargoes to Kuwait.
