Moscow River Shipping Company accepts into service two RST27 tankers (photo)

On March 28, 2014, Moscow River Shipping Company OJSC accepted into service two Volgo-Don Max tankers of project RST27 built by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard, says press center of Marine Engineering Bureau which designed the series.
 
Together with the Valentin Gruzdev and the Dmitry Pokrovsky tankers the shipping company will operate five other sea-and-river going tankers. Two more tankers of project RST25 are under construction at Astrakhan-based shipyard Lotos with other possibilities of tanker fleet expansion being considered by the shipping company today.
 
As compared with other projects of Marine Engineering Bureau, the tanker of project RST27 features an increased river function, deadweight increased by 732 tonnes versus Armada series and reinforced hull (sea class R2, or region II under old RS classification) with the same fuel consumption and the same increased capacity of cargo tanks.

RST27 project vessels of Volga-Don Max class meet the dimensions of the Volga-Don Ship Canal and Volga-Baltic Waterway. LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.6 m, depth - 6 m. 

The design takes into account special requirements of Russian and global oil companies as well as additional environmental restrictions of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping «ECO PROJECT» (ECO-S). 
 
The tankers of project RST27 are designed for transportation of crude oil and oil products with no flash point.
 
The capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop tanks – 8,100 cubic meters, sea / river DWT – 7,022/5,420 tonnes with draft of 4.2 / 3.6 m, operational speed – 11 knots. Crew - 12 persons (14 places + pilot). Sea/river endurance - 20 / 12 days.
 
The Valentin Gruzdev tanker (building number 02011) was laid down on September 27, 2012 and launched on May 17, 2013.

The Dmitry Pokrovsky (building number 02012) was laid down on October 31, 2012 and launched on May 28, 2013.
