Golden Energy Offshore elects PSVs from Ulstein

Golden Energy Offshore has entered into a shipbuilding contract with NANTONG RAINBOW OFFSHORE & ENGINEERING EQUIPMENTS CO.,LTD (ROC) in China for the construction of two PX121H Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) from ULSTEIN, with the option to build two more vessels of the same design. The two confirmed vessels are due for delivery from yard in Q1 and Q2 of 2016, the company said in its press release.

The vessels of the PX121H design are customised with an extra deck. They have an overall length of 83.4 metres and a beam of 18 metres and a deadweight (dwt) of 4,000 tonnes. The vessels will be equipped with the most modern solutions for DP2 (dynamic positioning), oil recovery and fire-fighting. The ships are recognised as medium-sized PSVs and have a cargo deck of approximately 850 square meters and under-deck capacities well suited for the intended operations. They can accommodate up to 30 persons, and will be built according to IMO’s SPS code for Special Purpose Ships. In addition, the vessels will be prepared for the installation of and AHC Crane with up to 67 tonnes capacity and an ROV mezzanine deck, which means the vessels can easily be configured for IMR (Inspection, Maintenance, Repair), ROV support, trenching and light subsea construction work.

Per Ivar Fagervoll, CEO in Golden Energy Offshore, says that: “Golden Energy Offshore is a fully integrated ship owning company located in Ålesund, Norway with all management functions in-house. We look forward to work through and complete this project together with the yard and ULSTEIN. In addition to design, ULSTEIN also delivers a significant package including equipment, supervision, commissioning and testing, which has been instrumental and a condition for us to enter into this series of vessels. There is also other Norwegian equipment on-board including the accommodation interior package, delivered in accordance with Norwegian standards.”

“We are glad to announce this contract with Golden Energy Offshore, who is a new customer to us. The PX121 design has become very sought-after in a short period of time, and including these vessels, a total of 24 vessels for seven different ship-owners have been contracted,” says Gunvor Ulstein, CEO in Ulstein Group.

“We are happy that Golden Energy Offshore, being a local shipowner, has chosen our design and equipment package when ordering their new vessels, and appreciate the trust placed in us. This shows that our initiatives in China has proven rightly, as it secures the quality and delivery precision for shipowners choosing to build ships there,” comments Lars Ståle Skoge, Sales and Marketing Manager in Ulstein Design & Solutions.
