The platform for the development of the Shtokman gas and condensate field will be a subsea structure as the construction of a surface structure is very costly. IAA PortNews journalist cites Gazprom representative Aleksey Novikov, as saying at the Adam Smith Conference “Russian Arctic Oil and Gas”.
According to him, the Shtokman project can be implemented but its economic efficiency is low. Aleksey Novikov found it difficult to say when the project is to be ‘unfrozen’.
The Shtokman gas and condensate field is situated in the central part of the continental shelf within the Russian sector of the Barents Sea. C1 reserves of the field make up 3.9 trillion cubic meters of gas and 56 million tons of gas condensate. Gazprom holds the gas and gas condensate exploration and production license for the Shtokman field.
