Diesel fuel will prevail in Baltic bunker market, expert says

In 2015, diesel fuel will prevail in the bunker market of the Baltic region, IAA PortNews journalist cites Anatoly Belov, Director General of Bominflot (Estonia) as saying at the 19th International Exhibition on Transport and Logistics, TransRussia 2014, being held in Moscow.

According to him, the deficit of diesel fuel in the European Union (some 45 mln t) is compensated with the proficit in Russia and the North America, so there will be sufficient amount of this product.

Meanwhile, it is difficult to predict the cost of fuel from 2015. However, the expert says it will be higher than the current price. 

Speaking about the alternatives to the diesel fuel, Anatoly Belov noted that scrubbers are a promising solution and heavy fuel oil will not disappear from the market. As for LNG, this fuel is not likely to fully replace conventional bunker, the expert thinks.
