Unified marine fish processing complex has been put into operation in Svetly (Kaliningrad Region). It comprises a base for mooring of vessels, fish processing and storage facilities. According to the regional government, the project has been implemented by a group of investing companies supported by the region.
The unified marine fish processing complex is the largest project being implemented within the framework of the regional programme on the development of coastal fishery, the statement says. When fully operational, the complex will be able to process up to 50,000 t of fish per year.
The regional budget allocated some RUB 28 mln for the project implementation in 2013. From the beginning of the programme, subsidies exceeded RUB 4 mln.
The programme covers the period from 2013 through 2020. RUB 330 mln were allocated to support the fisherman including the modernization and construction of fishing vessels, coastal infrastructure and payment of interest on loans. Besides, fishermen dealing with low profit species are provided with subsidies to cover the cost of fuels and lubricants. Last year, business invested over RUB 430 mln into the development of coastal fishery. All in all, in 2013 the regional government provided financial support to 14 companies and individual entrepreneur engaged in coastal fishery.
