A major milestone has been reached in the building of Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Aeolus. The first of the four 87 meter long steel legs, each weighing 920 tons, has been settled into its jacking position on the 139 meter long and 38 meter wide vessel, the Company said in a press release.
For this the biggest crawler crane in the world, Mammoets’ LR13000 was deployed. Execution started on 22 April at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and will continue round the clock for a fortnight. The Aeolus is scheduled to be operational in July of this year.
