In January-April 2014, container throughput of Russian seaports climbed by 2.1%, year-on-year, to 1.76 mln TEUs. This data has been contributed to IAA PortNews by Morcenter TFC.
Transshipment of export containers climbed by 4.1% to 781,600 TEUs, while transshipment of import containers declined by 1.3% to 766,500 TEUs. Transshipment of transit containers increased by 29.2% to 35,600 TEUs. Short sea container transportation was up 4.5% to 176,900 TEUs.
Container throughput of the Baltic Basin ports increased by 1.2% to 962,400 TEUs including 493,900 TEUs of export containers (+4.1%) and 468,400 TEUs of import containers (-1.7%).
Port Saint-Petersburg handled 807,300 TEUs (-3.9%) including 591,600 TEUs of loaded containers (+1.4%) and 215,700 TEUs of empty containers (-15.9%). Transshipment of export containers increased by 0.3% to 424,300 TEUs, transshipment of import containers fell by 8.2% to 383,000 TEUs.
Stevedoring company First Container Terminal saw a decline of 7.4% to 326,200 TEUs (including 274,400 TEUs of lloaded containers and 51,700 TEUs of empty containers. Export climbed by 0.5% to 166,400 TEUs, import fell by 14.4% to 159,800 TEUs.
Petrolesport LLC handled 228,900 TEUs (-9.1%) including 152,300 TEUs of loaded containers and 76,700 TEUs of empty containers. Export totaled 131,700 TEUs (-8%), import - 97,200 TEUs (-10.6%).
Throughput of Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg CJSC declined by 0.5% to 129,600 TEUs including 85,500 TEUs of loaded containers and 44,100 TEUs of empty containers. Export totaled 64,800 TEUs (+4.4%), import - 64,700 TEUs (-5%).
Container throughput of port Kaliningrad increased by 22.4% to 120,900 TEUs including 65,400 TEUs of loaded containers (+23%) and 55,400 TEUs of empty containers (+21.8%). Export climbed by 20.5% to 59,800 TEUs, import – by 24.4% to 61,100 TEUs.
In January-April, container throughput of port Ust-Luga surged 2.8 times to 34,100 TEUs including 26,600 TEUs of loaded containers and 7,600 TEUs of empty containers. Export hit 9,900 TEUs, import - 24,300 TEUs.
In 2013, container throughput of Russian ports totaled 5.35 mln TEUs: loaded export containers – 765,000 TEUs, empty export containers – 1.54 mln TEUs, import – 2.35 mln TEUs, transit – 94,000 TEUs, short sea transportation - 604,100 TEUs.
Container turnover in the Baltic Basin in 2013 totaled 2.9 mln TEUs (54.2% of Russia’s container turnover): export – 1.46 mln TEUs, import – 1.4 mln TEUs, short sea transportation - 27 TEUs.
