Throughput of port Helsinki (Finland) up 4% to 5.1 mt in HI’14

In January-June 2014, the port of Helsinki (Finland) handled 5.1 mln t of cargo (+4%, year-on-year), the port authority says. According to the statement, import totaled 2.4 mln t (+1%), export – 2.6 mln t (+7%). Yhe port’s passenger turnover increased by almost 6% to 1.1 mln persons (104 calls of international cruise ships).

In June, the ports throughput climbed to 840,000 t (+3%) including 410 mln t of import (+2%) and 430,000 t of export (+4%). Passenger turnover increased by over 1% to 966,000 passengers.

The Port of Helsinki is one of the largest ports in Finland, the largest passenger port and the third largest in the Baltic Sea.
