Sergei Zheldybin named as new Captain of Ust-Luga Port
Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmororechflot) appointed Sergei Zheldybin as Harbourmaster of the Port of Ust-Luga effective July 21, 2014, Peter Parinov, head of Baltic Sea Ports Authority told IAA PortNews.
Port of Ust-Luga is located nearly on the EU-Russia border. Its 16-m deep harbour and a short 3.7-km approach canal make Ust-Luga the major Russian port on the Baltic Sea capable of accommodating 75,00dwt dry bulk carriers and 160,000dwt tankers. In 2013, cargo throughput at Port of Ust-Luga totaled 62,640,300 tonnes. Upon completion of the Ust-Luga expansion program the port total throughput is expected to reach 180 million tonnes.
