Since the start of the 2014 shipping season, cruise ships of LLC Vodokhod' have transported 68,000 people, 4% lower than during the same period last year, the crusie company said.
The traffic decrease was primarily due to the inland shipping limitations this year, caused by shallow waters on the Volga River near Gorodets.
Vodokhod' managed to maintain the same traffic volume comparable to last year's figures, thanks to the rapid change in almost a third of the planned sailing schedules traffic with attractive alternative itineraries offered to customers, the company said.
The company deployed 23 four-deck river cruise ships for this year navigation season.
In the firs half of the year, Vodokhod's small tonnage cruise fleet transported 21,000 passengers, down 36% on H12013.
In St. Petersburg, the company's high speed passenger crafts carried 45,000 people, which is 45% less than in 2013.
LLC Vodokhod' founded in 2004 is now the largest river cruises operator in Russia. The company operates a fleet of four-deck cruise ships and small fleet. The company provides a broad range of services including transportation, meals, excursions, entertainment, personnerl training. In 2013 the company carried 542,000 people. Vodokhod' is part of VBTH, a majority owned shipping division of UCL Holding.
