Throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) up 11.8% to 15.643 mln t in Jan-Aug’14

In January-August 2014, Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 15,643,000 t of cargo (+11.8%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.

In August, the Odessa Commercial Sea Port handled 2,218,000 t of cargo (+16.3%) including 617,600 t of grain (+130.2%), 523,800 t of rolled ferrous metal (+600%) and 314,700 t of liquid bulk cargo (+124.5%). Transshipment of ore and containers increased by 28.3% and 78.9% respectively.

Odessa Commercial Sea Port operates in one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling of more than 14 million tonnes of dry cargoes and 24 million tonnes of liquid cargoes annually. The port’s passenger terminal accepts vessels of up to 300 meters in length. In 2013, throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port fell by 5.3%, year-on-year, to 23.1 mln tonnes.
