OCI Terminal Europoort is to invest €2 million in expanding the capacity
OCI Terminal Europoort is to invest €2 million in expanding the capacity of its storage and shipping facility for aqueous ammonia, Port of Rotterdam said in its press release.
OCI is ordering the construction of two 750 cubic metre, double walled, stainless steel tanks, which will increase the capacity from 25,000 to 80,000 tonnes a year. The construction of a truck loading station will also mean the addition of road haulage as a transport option alongside inland shipping.
The terminal produces and distributes aqueous ammonia. This is used, among other things, for fermentation processes in the food industry, as raw material for pharmaceutical products and for treating the emissions from power plants.
OCI Nitrogen is one of the major producers of plastics in Europe and the largest manufacturer of melamine in the world. The company forms part of the Egyptian Orascom Group.
