The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is calling for nominations for the Singapore International Maritime Awards (IMA) 2015, MPA said in its press release.
The biennial IMA recognises individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions to Singapore's development as a premier global hub port and an international maritime centre. The maritime sector is a key pillar of Singapore's economy, with over 5,000 maritime establishments employing more than 170,000 people, and contributing about seven per cent to the Republic's Gross Domestic Product.
IMA 2015 will feature seven award categories that are open for nomination: International Maritime Centre (IMC) Award (Individual and Corporate); Excellence in Manpower Training and Development Award; Outstanding Maritime R&D and Technology Award; SRS Ship Owner of the Year Award; Bunker Award; Maritime Service Provider Award; Offshore & Marine Engineering Award.
Besides the seven open award categories, there is also the SRS Green Ship of the Year Award. First introduced at IMA 2013, this is a closed award which is not open for nominations.
Mr Andrew Tan, Chief Executive, MPA said, "The growth and success of Maritime Singapore is possible because of the hard work and dedication of the maritime community. To recognise those who have made significant contributions to Maritime Singapore, we will be recognising individuals and companies for awards across various areas of excellence, from the development of Singapore as a maritime hub, bunkering, manpower development, R&D, to engineering and services excellence."
Nominations will close on 7 January 2015.
